The high-octane Eliminator of IPL 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Wednesday, delivered a night of contrasting emotions. While the clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was billed as a tactical battle, it quickly transformed into a showcase of raw teenage talent and an exhibition of sportsmanship. Ultimately, RR clinical performance eliminated SRH from the tournament, but a beautiful post-match gesture ensured that the night would be remembered for more than just the scorecard.
Kavya Maran wins hearts with warm interaction with Vaibhav Suryavanshi post SRH elimination
While many on social media trolled Kavya Maran for her intense, emotional reactions during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s crushing Eliminator defeat against Rajasthan Royals, the SRH owner made sure to congratulate the teenager who caused most of the damage. Moments after the match, Kavya was seen shaking hands and briefly chatting with 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi following his breathtaking knock in Mullanpur.
The Rajasthan Royals prodigy once again became the biggest talking point of IPL 2026 after his stunning Eliminator innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad helped RR storm into Qualifier 2. Despite the heartbreak of seeing her team’s championship dreams shatter, Maran bypassed the disappointment to acknowledge a special cricketing moment.
The post-match interaction between Kavya and Suryavanshi quickly went viral online, earning widespread praise. It stood out as a classy reminder of the spirit of the game, especially after the SRH owner’s anxious reactions in the stands during the match had already been heavily dissected across social media platforms.

RR storms into Qualifier 2 defeating SRH in Eliminator
The actual match was a high-scoring blowout dominated heavily by the Rajasthan Royals batting unit. Sent in to bat, RR posted a massive total of 243/8 in their allotted 20 overs. The foundation was laid entirely by the Player of the Match, Suryavanshi, who tore the SRH bowling attack apart. The 15-year-old blasted an incredible 97 runs off just 29 deliveries, striking at a roaring rate of 334.48, laced with 5 fours and 12 towering sixes.
Suryavanshi was ably supported by Dhruv Jurel, who smashed a rapid 50 off 21 balls. Among the SRH bowlers, Praful Hinge was the most successful picker, taking 3 wickets for 54 runs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy kept things comparatively quiet with a spell of 1/12 in his two overs.
Chasing a daunting target of 244, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s reply collapsed early under immense pressure. Jofra Archer broke the back of the chase instantly, dismissing opener Abhishek Sharma for a duck in the first over and ending with brilliant figures of 3/58.
Despite fighting cameos from Reddy (38 off 20) and impact player Salil Arora (35 off 21), SRH never truly threatened the target. They were eventually bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs, handing Rajasthan Royals a comfortable 47-run victory and keeping RR’s IPL 2026 trophy ambitions very much alive.
