The Bermuda Bicycle Association invites cyclists to the free Legends Ride on October 27, celebrating 50 years of cycling with a scenic ride from Front Street to the Botanical Gardens.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Bicycle Association [BBA] invites cyclists of all levels to join the Legends Ride, a free community event celebrating 50 years of cycling on the island. Whether you’re a seasoned rider, a returning legend, or just starting out, this casual road ride is the perfect way to connect with the cycling community, honour the BBA’s history, and enjoy a scenic route across the island.
Event Details
- Date: Sunday, 27 October [Rain Date: Sunday, 3 November]
- Time: 10:00 am – 11:30 am
- Start: 10:00 am at the Flagpole on Front Street
- Finish: Botanical Garden grounds with coffee and pastries supported by Buzz
Route:
- Start at the Flagpole, heading west along Front Street, Pitts Bay Road, and John’s Road to North Shore.
- Continue along North Shore to the Swizzle Inn and follow the Sunday morning ride route onto South Road.
- Shorter Option: Riders can choose to cut through Harrington Sound and Devil’s Hole, joining South Road for a more relaxed ride.
Rider Guidelines
- Cyclists of all levels are welcome to join, but participants must be comfortable riding on the road.
- Helmets must be worn
- Not suitable for children under the age of 12 unless they are accompanied by an adult for the entire route and are comfortable and capable of riding on the road.
“After the ride, participants are invited to enjoy coffee and pastries at the Botanical Gardens, providing an opportunity to socialise and celebrate the island’s vibrant cycling community.
A Call to the Motoring Public
“We kindly ask the motoring public to be aware of cyclists along the route and to exercise patience during the 1.5-hour event. Riders will be travelling along key roads, including North Shore and South Road, between 10:00 am and 11:30 am. Your understanding and cooperation will help ensure the safety of all participants.
